Prime Minister’s political assistant Rashed Khan has claimed that Nahid Islam expelled Sarjis Alam and issued a show-cause notice to Hasnat Abdullah over their alleged meeting with ministers of the then Awami League government during the July 2024 uprising.
In a post on his verified Facebook page on Wednesday (October 14), Rashed shared a report by Netra News and alleged that the meeting took place on July 19, when casualties during the uprising were particularly high.
Rashed also accused the two leaders of attempting to undermine the nine-point demand raised by Abdus Kader by introducing an eight-point programme during the anti-discrimination student movement.
He further claimed that Hasnat contacted Hasib Al Islam and took him from a student hostel to attend the meeting with Awami League ministers. According to Rashed, several others declined to attend the meeting, although Sarjis and Hasnat allegedly sought to involve more people.
Rashed said the Netra News report he shared still contained information about Sarjis’s expulsion. The allegations in his post, however, could not be independently verified.
