Traders at Seedstore Bazar in Bhaluka upazila, Mymensingh, blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway following an internal feud.
Vehicle movement on the highway was suspended for an hour on Wednesday noon following the blockade. Later the situation returned to normal.
According to local sources, a quarrel arose among several traders in the Seedstore Bazar area centering standing in line to deposit money at a bank. At one point, a scuffle broke out between them. Following this, the traders took to the highway, halting traffic.
Md. Jahidul Islam, Officer in-Charge (OC) of Bhaluka Model Police Station, stated that some local traders were standing in queues to deposit money at the bank. An altercation ensued when an individual attempted to deposit money overtaking others in the line, and at one stage, that person was punched and kicked. Protesting the incident, the traders took to the street.
