Prime Minister’s Political Assistant Rashed Khan launched a scathing attack on Sarjis Alam, Northern Chief Organizer of the National Citizen Party (NCP), questioning his role during the 2018 quota movement and the July mass uprising.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Rashed criticized Sarjis over his past attempts to secure a post in Chhatra League (BCL) and questioned his political credentials.
Rashed alleged that Sarjis sought favour with BCL leaders Saddam and Inan for an organizational position, questioning how he could now make critical remarks about veteran movement organizers.
Raising questions about Sarjis's actions during the July mass uprising, Rashed claimed Sarjis faced no personal hardship during the movement and rose to leadership purely by chance while inside the DB office.
Rashed defended his colleagues against claims of compromising during the 2018 quota movement, pointing out that while they faced multiple attacks on campus protesting against the Awami League regime after 2018, Sarjis remained loyal to Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Rashed further alleged that Sarjis compromised martyrs' sacrifices by attending meetings with Awami League ministers during the July uprising, adding that the public has not forgotten how Sarjis and Hasnat moved around in intelligence agency vehicles during curfew while other key coordinators were detained.
