The Kaliakair-Mymensingh (Shambhuganj) 400 kV double-circuit power transmission line is scheduled to be energized on a trial basis from 12:00 PM on Thursday.

Power Grid Bangladesh PLC confirmed the development in a notification issued on Wednesday (October 14), signed by Md Alamgir Hossain, Project Director (Chief Engineer) of the Power Grid Network Strengthening Project.

According to the notification, the newly constructed 96.891-kilometre transmission line connecting the Kaliakair 400/230/132 kV grid substation to the Shambhuganj 400/132/33 kV grid substation will be charged during the test run.

The newly constructed high-voltage transmission line traverses Kaliakair and Sreepur upazilas of Gazipur; Mirzapur and Sakhipur upazilas of Tangail; and Bhaluka, Trishal, Mymensingh Sadar, Ishwarganj, and Gouripur upazilas of Mymensingh.

Power Grid authorities emphasized that the line will remain energized following the trial run and urged the public residing along the corridor to maintain a safe distance and exercise extreme caution.

The authorities specifically warned against hazardous activities such as climbing power towers, tethering cattle to structure legs, drying clothes on tower frames, or planting bamboo and tall trees beneath or adjacent to the power lines.

The notification further stated that Power Grid Bangladesh PLC will not accept liability for any accidents resulting from unauthorized contact with or proximity to the high-voltage transmission line and its supporting towers.
