Rangamati’s iconic hanging bridge has become visible again after remaining submerged for more than a month due to rising water levels in Kaptai Lake. Following necessary repairs, the bridge reopened to tourists on Wednesday.

Alok Bikash Chakma, manager of Rangamati Tourism Complex, said the bridge was submerged on September 11 as the lake’s water level rose. Entry was suspended for visitor safety and resumed after the water receded and repairs were completed.

Tourism-related businesses expect visitor numbers to rise following the reopening, benefiting hotels, resorts, transport and boat services.

Built in 1986, the 335-foot bridge is one of Rangamati’s major tourist attractions. It is submerged almost every year during the monsoon, disrupting tourism activities and affecting local businesses.
