Thunderstorms likely in five regions by noon

Thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds of up to 60kph are likely in five regions of Bangladesh by noon, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

In a river port warning issued until 1PM on Wednesday, meteorologist Md Abdul Hamid Mia said temporary gusty winds and rain or thundershowers could affect Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali and Chattogram.

Winds from the west or northwest may reach speeds of 45-60kph, the forecast said.

River ports in the affected areas have been advised to hoist warning signal No. 1.
