Japan, Australia and New Zealand have issued travel warnings for Saudi Arabia, advising their citizens to exercise caution amid security concerns, with Japan urging travellers to avoid non-essential trips to the kingdom.
Japan's Foreign Ministry on Wednesday raised its travel alert level from one to two on a four-tier scale for several areas in northern and western Saudi Arabia. Areas near the Yemeni border remain under a level-three warning, advising Japanese nationals to avoid all travel to those locations.
The ministry also urged Japanese citizens to avoid using or approaching Saudi airports, citing an increase in Houthi attacks since October 5 and the risk of further strikes as the conflict in Yemen continues.
Japanese nationals planning to visit Saudi Arabia have been advised to consider postponing their trips.
