DMP arrests 510 in 24 hours

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 510 people in the capital in the past 24 hours and filed 48 cases during the period.

Of the arrestees, 197 were arrested by Mirpur Division, 67 by Tejgaon, 49 by Wari, 41 by Ramna, 40 each by Lalbagh and Gulshan, 38 by Motijheel, 30 by Uttara and eight by the Detective Branch.

During the drives, police seized a foreign-made pistol, two rounds of ammunition, parts of two exploded cocktails, 800 grams of cannabis, 62,700 yaba pills, 91 grams of heroin, a machete, a cutter, 132 mobile phones, a truck, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and Tk 40,840 in cash.

The arrests and seizures were made during raids in different police station areas of the capital.

Further legal action against the arrestees is underway.
