Around 800 tourists visited Sajek in Rangamati on Friday after a four-day restriction on tourist entry was lifted, bringing renewed activity to the local tourism industry.
The restriction was withdrawn on Friday, October 16, as the overall situation returned to normal. Tourist vehicles began travelling towards Sajek through Khagrachhari from Friday morning.
According to local sources, tourist visits had been suspended for the past four days due to security concerns and other unavoidable circumstances, leaving many travel plans uncertain.
Suparna Debbarma, president of the Sajek Cottage-Resort Owners Association, said around 800 tourists arrived in Sajek on the first day after the restriction was lifted.
He added that many visitors had already confirmed advance bookings to enjoy Sajek’s scenic hills and cloud-covered landscapes. Local cottage, restaurant and transport operators have completed preparations to welcome the tourists.
Tofazzal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sajek Police Station, said security measures were being closely monitored in line with the local administration’s decision.
Police and other law enforcement agencies remain alert to ensure tourists can travel and enjoy their visits safely and without inconvenience, he added.
The return of tourists has brought relief to local businesses and residents after four days of disruption. Tourism operators hope visitor numbers will increase further in the coming days if weather and overall conditions remain favourable.
