Juba Dal leader hacked to death

A ward-level leader of Juba Dal in Cumilla city hacked to death by assailants on Friday.

The incident took place in the Chhatarkhil area of Panchthubi around 12:00 noon.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Kawsar.

Additional Superintendent of Police Lutfor Rahman said, the killing might have stemmed from a land-related dispute.

Locals said, he was in the Chhatarkhil area of Panchthubi Union on Friday when assailants suddenly attacked him, leaving him critically injured with sharp weapons.

Locals later rescued Kawsar and took him to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

His body has been kept at the morgue of Cumilla Medical College Hospital.
