PM gives Kuwait Maitree Hospital 7-day for cleanliness

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has expressed dissatisfaction with the overall management and cleanliness of Kuwait-Bangladesh Maitree Government Hospital during a surprise inspection on Saturday.

The visit was part of a series of unannounced inspections of hospitals, educational institutions and government buildings in the capital to assess dengue prevention efforts, healthcare services and cleanliness.

The prime minister spoke with patients receiving treatment there to inquire about the quality of care and their experiences.

He also inspected several departments, including the intensive care unit (ICU) and operating theatres.

After reviewing the hospital's overall conditions, Tarique expressed concern over its management and hygiene standards and instructed the authorities to address the shortcomings within seven days.

Later, the prime minister visited Rajuk Uttara Model College to inspect cleanliness initiatives aimed at preventing dengue.

He spoke with teachers, students, members of the Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC) and scouts about cleanliness and efforts to prevent the spread of the mosquito-borne disease.

The surprise inspections underscore the government's focus on improving public healthcare facilities, maintaining hygiene and strengthening dengue prevention measures in the capital.
