At least 168 Houthi fighters have been killed and 210 others injured in ground clashes and airstrikes in Yemen’s Taiz governorate, according to government-aligned forces.
A statement from the Taiz military command, published by Yemen’s state news agency Saba, said warplanes carried out nine airstrikes targeting Houthi positions and gatherings in Al-Misrakh district, the Al-Shaqab front and areas surrounding Taiz city.
Al Jazeera reported the development on Saturday (October 17), citing the statement.
The statement claimed that the airstrikes and ground fighting left 168 Houthi fighters dead and 210 wounded. Clashes were also reported along Yemen’s western front.
Meanwhile, the Saudi-led coalition said it had destroyed two Houthi ballistic missile launch systems in the northern Yemeni governorate of Saada.
The coalition’s announcement came after the Houthis-run Al-Masirah television channel reported two Saudi airstrikes in the eastern part of Saada city.
The casualty figures and claims of military losses were reported by the parties involved and could not be independently verified.
