Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman returned home on Saturday, October 17, after official visits to Australia and the United States, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
During the first leg of his tour, he attended the Chief of Army Symposium and Land Forces International Defence Exposition 2026 in Perth, Australia.
He also visited Deakin University in Melbourne, where he discussed expanding academic cooperation, research collaboration and exchange programmes between the university and Bangladesh’s Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST).
The army chief later attended the Association of the US Army (AUSA) Annual Meeting and Exposition in Washington, DC.
During the visits, he held courtesy meetings and exchanged views with key defence officials from both countries. He also visited several military installations in Australia and the US.
The ISPR said the visits are expected to strengthen professional ties and expand opportunities for cooperation, training and experience-sharing between the Bangladesh Army, the Australian Army and the US Army Pacific (USARPAC).
