Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has revealed that his struggle with alcohol addiction intensified after his divorce, prompting him to seek treatment at a rehabilitation centre for 26 days.
Speaking to former India opener Aakash Chopra on a podcast, Chahal said his alcohol consumption had crossed the limits after a difficult period following his county cricket stint last year.
“It crossed all limits, so I checked into a rehab centre and stayed there for 26 days. Now, I know how to handle it,” Chahal said.
The leg-spinner, one of the most successful bowlers in Indian Premier League (IPL) history, said his family and friends helped him navigate the challenging phase of his life.
Chahal has faced personal challenges alongside his cricketing career, including his divorce. He recently retired from first-class cricket, according to the report.
