Measles-related deaths top 1,200

The death toll from measles and symptoms in the country has reached 1,201, with five more people dying with suspected symptoms in the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the total deaths, 104 were confirmed measles fatalities, while 1,097 were reported among patients with measles-like symptoms, the DGHS said in its regular health bulletin issued on Monday.

The bulletin said the latest deaths were recorded during the 24 hours from 8AM on Sunday. Dhaka Division reported the highest number, with two deaths.

During the same period, 1,342 new patients with measles or measles-like symptoms were admitted to hospitals across the country.
