Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will deliver a special message to sugarcane farmers at a rally in Rajshahi, considering the interests of agriculture and farmers in the northern region, Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu said on Monday.
He made the remarks after inspecting preparations for Tuesday’s rally at the historic Madrasa Ground in Rajshahi.
Minu said the prime minister’s first visit to Rajshahi has generated widespread enthusiasm. Long-standing demands of the region, including upgrading Rajshahi Airport to an international airport, establishing an agricultural university and completing Rajshahi Medical University, will be raised during the visit.
Tarique Rahman will attend the rally and join a meeting with members of the Hindu community on the occasion of Durga Puja.
Local BNP leaders and lawmakers also inspected the rally venue on Monday.
