Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison has accused Brazilian presidential candidate Flavio Bolsonaro of taking control of his private island property after he refused to sell it.
Richarlison claims he invested around 10 million Brazilian reais ($1.7 million at the time) in a luxury house on Ilha Comprida, off Rio de Janeiro, between 2020 and 2021.
In a social media video, he alleged that Bolsonaro and lawyer Willer Tomaz took control of the property within 24 hours. He called for an investigation, claiming he received no money back.
Bolsonaro dismissed the allegations as “fake news”, saying he was not a party to the lawsuit but had been listed as a witness. Tomaz also denied Richarlison's claims.
Brazilian media outlet UOL reported that courts had ruled against a company linked to Richarlison in the long-running dispute. The property is now controlled by Tomaz's company.
Tomaz challenged Richarlison to provide documents proving his connection to the property within 72 hours, promising to return the rights without payment if valid documents are produced.
