Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman has said the absence of opposition members from the committee on constitutional amendments will not create any complications, adding that opposition lawmakers will be present when the proposed amendments are placed before parliament.

He made the remarks in response to questions from journalists at an event honouring meritorious students at Mingram School ground in Shailkupa upazila of Jhenaidah on Tuesday.

Asked about allegations that Bangladeshi ambassadors were not taking appropriate steps to look after Bangladeshi prisoners in different countries, the law minister said any complaint against an official would be investigated.

Legal action would be taken against the person concerned if the allegations were found to be true, he said. However, he added that making such allegations indiscriminately was not appropriate.

The minister also spoke about two Bangladeshis sentenced to death in Saudi Arabia.

Leaders and activists of the upazila BNP, students and people from various professions attended the event.
