Robbers attack, loot over 50 vehicles on Cox’s Bazar road

Masked robbers attacked and looted passengers of more than 50 vehicles on the Eidgaon–Eidgarh–Baishari road in Cox’s Bazar in two separate incidents on Monday, triggering panic among locals.
The robberies took place at Himchhari Dhala from morning until evening, according to local residents.
The gang allegedly looted passengers travelling in at least 50 to 60 vehicles, including minibuses, CNG-run auto-rickshaws and motorcycles.
Locals said daytime robberies on the road had repeatedly disrupted public travel. They called for the installation of police checkpoints along the important route to improve security.
Eidgaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sifat-ul Majdar said police were conducting operations in the hills to arrest those involved.
The suspects would be identified and brought to justice, he added.
