Teacher sent to jail in Kushtia over assault on 3rd grader

A madrasa teacher was sent to Kushtia District Jail by a court on Wednesday (October 21) in connection with a case filed over the attempted sexual assault of a third-grade female student in Daulatpur upazila.

The arrestee was identified as Sayeed Hossain Nannu, a teacher at Darul Abbar Madrasa located in Pakuria village under Pragpur Union.

According to police and case details, the victim's mother filed a written complaint with Daulatpur Police Station on Tuesday (October 20). Following the complaint, police conducted a drive on Tuesday night and arrested the suspect.

The complaint stated that on October 14, around 2:00PM, the student went to the madrasa for her studies. Teacher Nannu allegedly took her alone into the office room and attempted to sexually assault her. Hearing the student's screams, local residents rushed to the scene, forcing the teacher to flee.

Daulatpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khaledur Rahman confirmed that police arrested the accused following the complaint and produced him before the court on Wednesday afternoon, after which the judge ordered him sent to jail.
