Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said the United States must end its “bullying and aggression” before Tehran can engage in negotiations.
Speaking on state television on Wednesday, Pezeshkian said Washington could not impose a naval blockade, threaten military strikes and simultaneously demand talks with Iran.
He said the US must recognise Iran’s rights and stop its aggressive actions before both sides could sit down for negotiations.
Pezeshkian also accused Washington of breaking its previous commitments, saying parties must remain committed to agreements once they are reached.
The remarks come after a 60-day ceasefire agreement between Iran and the United States, brokered by Pakistan following joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran in February, collapsed within days.
