Police have arrested four leaders of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League and Swechchhasebak League in Dhaka.

They were arrested during a drive in the Dhaka Udyan area under Mohammadpur Police Station on Wednesday afternoon, October 21.

The arrestees are Md Jalal Uddin, 32, a former member of Chhatra League’s Ward No. 1 unit in Bhaluka, Mymensingh; Md Naim Hasan Dalim, 32, former president of the organisation’s Ward No. 7 unit in Habir Bari Union; and Md Mahmudul Hasan Mamun, 34, and Md Al-Amin, 35, former members of the Swechchhasebak League’s Ward No. 7 unit in the same union.

According to Mohammadpur Police Station, acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid in Block C of Dhaka Udyan and arrested the four.

The arrestees are also accused in several cases filed with different police stations.

Further legal action against them is underway, police said.
