Dry weather is expected to persist across the country for the next three days before a potential low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal brings rain to coastal regions, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said on Thursday (October 22).
According to a weather bulletin issued by meteorologist Md Tariful Newaz Kabir on Thursday, the rainfall is likely to expand inland following its initial onset along the coast.
The Met Office reported that a low-pressure area currently lies over the Southwest Bay of Bengal near the Tamil Nadu coast, with its trough extending to the North Bay. Another low-pressure area is likely to form over the Southeast Bay and adjoining Eastcentral Bay within the next 24 hours and could intensify further.
For the next 48 hours starting Friday (October 23) morning, the weather is expected to remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy skies nationwide. Day and night temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged, though night temperatures may drop slightly on Saturday (October 24).
Light rain or thunder showers are likely to occur at one or two places over the Chattogram division during the 24 hours starting Sunday (October 25) morning.
By Monday (October 26) morning, rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty winds may occur at isolated places over the Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions, while day and night temperatures across the country may rise slightly.
