A new political platform named "Somomona Islamic Jot" comprising seven Islamic parties was formally launched on Thursday following a meeting of party representatives.
The official announcement was made on Thursday (October 22) morning after a meeting held at the Makhzanul Uloom Madrasa in the capital's Khilgaon area. Maulana Ataullah Amin, Joint Secretary General of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis, confirmed the development.
The seven member parties of the alliance are Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Khelafat Majlis, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis, Bangladesh Khelafat Andolan, Islami Oikyajote, and Bangladesh Nezame Islam Party.
Hefazat-e-Islam Secretary General Sajidur Rahman stated that the seven Islamic parties agreed to work together under the "Somomona Islamic Jot" platform. He added that member parties currently affiliated with other political alliances have agreed to leave those platforms to join this new Islamic alliance.
Sajidur Rahman further noted that Hefazat-e-Islam is playing a facilitating role in uniting like-minded Islamic parties in the interest of the country, nation, and Islam, while maintaining its own non-partisan status.
Leaders of the constituent parties announced that the alliance's charter and policy framework would be formally adopted on December 5. However, top leaders from several parties cautioned that they would exit the alliance if any arbitrary conditions were imposed upon them.
