JASHORE, Oct 22: Four opposition Members of Parliament (MP) from Jashore have held a press conference raising allegations of partisan appointments and financial transactions in the recruitment of fertiliser dealers.
The press conference was held at the Jashore Press Club at 12:30 pm on Wednesday.
Speaking at the press conference, Golam Rasul, MP for Jashore-4 constituency and Ameer of the District Jamaat, alleged that evidence of partisanship in fertiliser dealer appointments had been found in Jashore, as across the country. He also claimed that dealers had been appointed through financial transactions in several upazilas.
Golam Rasul said that the opinions of opposition leaders had not been taken in the matter of dealer appointments.
He alleged that although there are directives to include three people in the district and upazila level fertiliser and seed monitoring committees on social, farmers' and business considerations alongside administrative officials, the opinions of none of the five Jamaat MPs had been taken in this regard.
At the press conference, the MPs demanded accountability in the fertiliser dealer appointment process.
Also present at the press conference were Maulana Azizur Rahman, MP for Jashore Sharsha-1 constituency; Dr Mosleh Uddin Farid, MP for Jashore-2 Chaugachha-Jhikargachha constituency; Professor Muktar Ali, MP for Jashore-6 constituency; and leaders of Jashore District Jamaat-e-Islami at various levels.
