The Bangladesh Private Teachers and Employees Forum (Babeshikfo) has called for equal higher pay-grade benefits for MPO-listed assistant teachers at private secondary schools and madrasahs, urging the government to align the policies governing the two categories of institutions.
At a press conference at the Jatiya Press Club on Thursday, the organisation demanded that teachers’ service be counted from the date of their initial inclusion in the Monthly Pay Order (MPO) scheme when determining eligibility for their first higher pay grade.
Babeshikfo President Md Main Uddin said there should be no policy-based discrimination between teachers at secondary schools and madrasahs in granting higher pay grades.
Teachers should not lose financial benefits because of differences in institutional categories or policies despite serving for years in the same education system, he said, adding that such disparities were causing frustration among teachers.
“We urge the relevant authorities to take effective steps to address our legitimate demands within the next two months. Otherwise, we will hold a human chain in front of the Press Club,” Main Uddin said.
The forum presented seven demands, including amending Clause 11.7 of the MPO policy for secondary schools to align it with Clause 11.5 of the MPO Policy 2026 for madrasahs. It also called for calculating service from the initial MPO enrolment date when determining eligibility for the first higher pay grade.
