The fate of 20 Bangladeshi nationals sentenced in Saudi Arabia remains unclear, as authorities have yet to disclose details of their crimes or punishments.
According to the Bangladesh Consulate in Jeddah sent a diplomatic letter to the Saudi Foreign Ministry on October 19, seeking details of the verdicts to ensure the prisoners receive necessary consular assistance and legal support.
The issue emerged after Saudi Arabia sent a list of 2,461 Bangladeshi detainees to the Bangladesh mission on September 30. The verdict summaries for 22 prisoners were missing, with only the word “sentenced” recorded.
Two of them, Nazrul Islam and Sweety Akter, were later identified as having been executed, raising concerns over the remaining 20 prisoners.
