US to host first FIFA women’s club WC

The tournament will take place from January 5 to 30, 2028, featuring 19 of the world’s top women’s clubs. The host cities have yet to be announced. The competition will be held every four years.

Seven clubs have already qualified: Arsenal (England), Barcelona (Spain), Club América (Mexico), Gotham FC (USA), Corinthians (Brazil), Wuhan Jiangda (China) and Naegohyang FC (North Korea).

The United States previously hosted the expanded FIFA Club World Cup for men. FIFA said its decision to return to the country followed the successful hosting of major football tournaments and reflected its strong infrastructure and growing interest in women’s football.

FIFA Chief Women’s Football Officer Sarai Bareman said the country’s recent experience hosting major tournaments, enthusiasm for women’s football and advanced sporting infrastructure made it an ideal choice.
