Observer Online Report

Police recovered the hanging body of a youth from Patherhat village in Gopalgram Union under Magura Sadar Upazila on Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as Narottam Biswas, 38, son of Nitya Gopal Biswas of Patherhat village and worked in the Forest Department under an outsourcing arrangement.

According to family sources, Narottam went missing after leaving his home on Thursday night. On Friday morning, locals spotted his body hanging from a tree in an orchard near his house and informed the Shatrujitpur police camp, following which police arrived and retrieved the body.

Family members revealed that domestic disputes had flared up several months ago over his wife, prompting her to return to her paternal home. Although Narottam brought his wife back home during the Durga Puja festival, fresh arguments broke out, and she left again. She returned to her in-laws' house about a week before the incident. Relatives claimed that Narottam had been suffering from severe mental distress due to ongoing family feuds.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Raich Uddin of the Shatrujitpur police camp said, "an inquest report was prepared, and the body was sent to the hospital morgue for an autopsy."

Further legal action will be taken after receiving the autopsy report to determine the exact cause of death, the police officer added.
