Police have filed a general diary (GD) following a heated altercation between independent Member of Parliament Barrister Rumeen Farhana and Sarail Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Monjur Kader Bhuiyan inside the station premise.

The incident took place on Thursday (October 22) night, while news of the GD entry emerged on Friday (October 23) night. Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Mohammad Arafatul Islam confirmed the matter on Saturday (October 24).

According to police and local sources, MP Rumeen Farhana visited Sarail Police Station around 8:00PM on Thursday to question the OC regarding alleged security lapses during her recent Durga Puja pavilion visits and corruption allegations against police officers. She remained inside the OC's room until 9:00PM.

During the discussion, an associate accompanying the MP accused the OC of accepting a 30,000 taka bribe, a charge the officer denied, alleging that the individual was instructed by the MP to make false claims. The exchange escalated into a heated argument between the MP and the officer.

Speaking to reporters, OC Monjur Kader Bhuiyan denied all allegations, claiming the MP entered the police station with hundreds of supporters, creating an unstable situation. He added that dedicated police escorts could not be assigned to individual leaders due to widespread security deployments across all Puja venues in the upazila.

Brahmanbaria ASP Mohammad Arafatul Islam clarified that logging a GD is standard procedural practice whenever notable incidents occur inside a police station and does not constitute a formal criminal charge. Police are currently gathering details regarding the individuals who accompanied the MP to the station.
