A Nasimon driver was killed after his vehicle overturned when its front wheel fell into a pothole in Magura Sadar upazila on Saturday (October 24).
The accident occurred around 12:30 PM in the Alamkhali area, leaving the driver, Abdus Sattar, dead.
Sattar was the son of Abdul Haque of Dostogram village in Darshana upazila of Chuadanga district.
According to police and local sources, Sattar was driving the Nasimon from Jhenaidah towards Magura when its front wheel fell into a pothole in the middle of the road. He lost control of the vehicle, which overturned on the road.
Sattar was trapped underneath the vehicle and seriously injured. Local residents rescued him and rushed him to Magura 250-bed Sadar Hospital, where the attending doctor declared him dead.
Officer-in-Charge of Ramnagar Highway Police Station Md Abdul Halim confirmed the incident, saying the driver lost control after the vehicle's front wheel fell into the pothole.
He said the victim's identity had been confirmed and that his body was kept at the hospital morgue.
The incident has raised fresh concerns over road safety, as potholes and uneven road surfaces increase the risk of accidents, particularly for three-wheeled vehicles such as Nasimons.
Police said necessary legal action would be taken over the incident.
