A Saudi airport worker died after helping colleagues extinguish a fire caused by a Houthi attack at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam on October 21.
Sultan Al-Qahtani was on duty when the fire broke out between Gates 19 and 20. Fearing the flames could reach a nearby passenger aircraft, he and his colleagues rushed to control the blaze using fire extinguishers.
Shortly afterwards, Al-Qahtani complained of chest pain and breathing difficulties after inhaling smoke. He was taken to hospital but later died.
His father, Ali, said he was proud of his son's bravery and sacrifice while performing his duty.
“He lived as a hero and he died as a hero,” his uncle, Khalid Hussain Al-Qahtani, told Arab News.
Al-Qahtani was married and had six school-aged children, including two sons and four daughters. His family said his final actions reflected his commitment to helping others in danger.
