German Vice Minister Dr Bärbel Kofler is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on Sunday (October 25) for a three-day official visit aimed at reshaping future development cooperation between Bangladesh and Germany and discussing issues of mutual interest.

According to a press release issued by the German Embassy on Saturday evening, Kofler will lead a delegation from Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

The visit comes as Bangladesh undergoes an economic transformation and prepares for its graduation from the least developed country (LDC) category. Discussions will focus on long-term resilience, economic adaptability and sustainable growth.

Germany, a longstanding development partner of Bangladesh, seeks to strengthen bilateral cooperation through the talks.

The embassy said the discussions would go beyond traditional aid frameworks to address Bangladesh’s evolving development needs as the country prepares to graduate from the LDC category.

During her visit, Kofler will take part in political dialogue and visit various development projects in Chattogram.

In Dhaka, she will also attend a celebration of German Reunification Day hosted by the German Embassy.

Senior government officials from Bangladesh and Germany, civil society representatives, members of the diplomatic corps, and cultural and media personalities are expected to attend the event.

German Reunification Day commemorates the historic reunification of East and West Germany in 1990, following decades of division during the Cold War.

The embassy said the visit highlights Germany’s continued commitment to supporting Bangladesh’s sustainable development.
