A student alleged that he had been subjected to sexual abuse by two individuals at the madrasa. Following a case filed in connection with this incident, the police have arrested Maulana Ibrahim, the teacher responsible.
He was arrested on Saturday (October 24) around 4:00 PM from the Ehyaul Uloom Hafizia Madrasa, located in the Gandhabyapur area of Mandari Union, under the jurisdiction of Chandragonj Police Station in Lakshmipur.
Allegations have also been raised against another individual, identified as Mohammad, the son of the madrasa’s head teacher, though the police have not yet been able to apprehend him.
According to police sources, the victim's mother filed a written complaint at the Chandragonj Police Station on Saturday. Acting on this complaint, the police conducted an operation and arrested the accused teacher, who has since been produced before the court.
The victim's mother stated that she had enrolled her son in the madrasa’s residential program with the hope that he would become a ‘hafiz’ (one who has memorized the entire Quran). During his time there, he had successfully memorized four sections of the Quran. Upon returning home recently, he disclosed that he had been abused by two individuals at the madrasa. She has demanded a thorough investigation into the incident and exemplary punishment for those accused.
Abdur Rob, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chandragonj Police Station, confirmed to ‘The Observer’ that Maulana Ibrahim, who was named in the case filed by the victim's mother, has been arrested and sent to court.
