A Dhaka court has rejected a police investigation report and ordered the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to conduct a further probe into a fraud, breach of trust, and intimidation case filed against actress Tanzin Nahar Tisha.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam issued the order on Sunday (October 25) following a no-confidence petition (naraji) filed by the plaintiff against the previous inquiry report.
According to court sources, the judge heard the plaintiff's petition, recorded the statements of witnesses, and directed the CID to carry out a comprehensive further investigation. The court also set December 31 as the deadline for submitting the inquiry report.
Plaintiff's counsel Shubro Sinha Roy stated that the petition was filed challenging the earlier investigation report submitted by the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).
The PBI report previously stated that the plaintiff, a fashion designer with a studio on Road 127 in Gulshan, developed a friendly relationship with Tisha through shared fashion events and award shows. According to the case details, Tisha took a saree valued at Tk 75,000 on December 13, 2024, through her former driver for an event, with an agreement to return it the following day.
The PBI investigation found that the saree was not returned immediately, leading to subsequent messaging disputes between the two parties in late 2024 and 2025. Tisha later maintained that she had forgotten about the item after her former driver left employment without returning it. Following legal steps and subsequent disputes, Tisha eventually returned the saree via postal mail on March 31, 2026.
In its initial findings, the PBI reported a lack of documentary evidence supporting the allegations of fraud and intimidation, prompting the plaintiff's legal team to file a protest petition, which led to the fresh order for a CID reinvestigation.
