An attack was reported at the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) headquarters, Mukti Bhaban, in Dhaka’s Paltan on Monday night (October 26), with the party blaming BNP and Jamaat activists, a charge denied by BNP activists.
The incident took place around 10PM following tensions over the detention and subsequent release of former Bangladesh Chhatra Union president Dipak Shil. Police said some individuals attacked the office after supporters allegedly chanted “Joy Bangla” following his release.
CPB President Sazzad Zahir Chandan denied that the slogan was chanted from the party office. Paltan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ariful Islam said an investigation was underway, while police took position between the two sides to prevent further violence.
