Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman is set to play for Melbourne Renegades in Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL) for the first time, with Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Tamim Iqbal confirming that the left-arm pacer has sought clearance to join the tournament.
Mustafizur has applied for a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the BCB to participate in the upcoming season, scheduled for December and January. Tamim has indicated a positive stance on granting permission to both Mustafizur and leg-spinner Rishad Hossain, who is set to return to Hobart Hurricanes.
Mustafizur’s BBL commitments mean he is expected to miss the T20 phase of Bangladesh’s domestic D3 tournament. He was picked by Seven Rings Cement for 70 lakh virtual points for the ODI format.
If confirmed, Mustafizur will become the latest Bangladeshi cricketer to feature in the BBL, following Shakib Al Hasan and Rishad Hossain.
