Bangladesh batter Mushfiqur Rahim sustained an injury to his right index finger during training at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday, raising doubts over his availability for the opening Test against West Indies.

A short-pitched delivery from a net bowler struck Mushfiqur’s finger during practice, forcing him to leave the nets in pain.

He received initial treatment under national team physio Bayezidul Islam. After around 20 minutes, the experienced batter had his finger taped and returned to the dressing room. He did not resume batting practice.

The extent of the injury remains unclear, leaving his participation in the first Test uncertain.

Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto expressed optimism about Mushfiqur’s availability at a press conference. However, the team management may consider alternatives if he is not fit to play.

Towhid Hridoy and Jaker Ali Anik could be options if Mushfiqur misses the match. His availability may be confirmed before the toss.
