Dear Sir,
Primary school is the foundation of a child’s educational journey, where curiosity, knowledge and mental development begin. Alongside formal education, books such as stories, rhymes, poems and scientific texts nurture children’s imagination, creativity, critical thinking, moral values and logical reasoning.
Regrettably, many rural primary schools in Bangladesh lack adequate library facilities. Even where libraries exist, their collections are often insufficient to meet students’ needs. Consequently, many rural children miss valuable opportunities to develop a reading habit from an early age, limiting their exposure to science and other fields of knowledge.
Establishing well-equipped libraries in every government primary school is therefore essential. These libraries should offer age-appropriate books on literature, science, history, biographies and general knowledge. Existing libraries must also receive adequate books and necessary facilities.
I urge the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education and other relevant authorities to take effective measures to establish libraries in every primary school and strengthen existing facilities.
