Forty of the 227 young athletes, who attended a 40-day residential training camp under the 'Notun Kuri Sports programme', have been selected for long-term training at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP).
The first phase of the camp concluded on Tuesday, with State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Aminul Haque formally declaring its closure at a ceremony at BKSP.
Before the ceremony, Aminul interacted with the young trainees, enquired about their training progress and overall well-being, and encouraged them to continue developing their skills.
BKSP Director General Brigadier General Mohammad Saif Ullah was also present.
Addressing the ceremony, The State Minister said the government has undertaken initiatives to identify talented athletes at the grassroots and develop them into skilled sportspersons through proper training and nurturing under its slogan, "Make Sports a Profession, Family get Confidence."
He expressed hope that the talented youngsters selected through New Buds Sports would go on to represent Bangladesh at the national and international levels and raise the country's flag on the global sporting stage.
He stressed the importance of planned training, discipline and regular practice from an early age to help young athletes realise their full potential.
