Garment worker stabbed dead in Gazipur on way to home

A readymade garment worker was stabbed to death in what police suspect was a mugging while he was returning home after completing a night shift in Gazipur’s Gachha area early Wednesday.

Deceased Kartik worked in the finishing section of Fashion Maker International, a garment factory.

He was attacked while returning home to his rented house from the Kunia-Targach area at around 11:30PM on Tuesday.

According to Rakib Khan, convener of Bangladesh Youth Revolution’s Gachha unit, Kartik was stabbed in an alley near Shahriar Garments. He was rushed to Tayrunnessa Memorial Medical College Hospital in critical condition, where on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Gachha Police Station SI Syed Sheikh Monir said police recovered the body from the scene after receiving information about the incident.

Police found a stab wound on Kartik’s left thigh. Investigators initially suspect he may have been killed during a mugging, but the exact circumstances surrounding the attack remain unclear.

Police said an investigation is underway.
