TikToker and lawyer's assistant Masud Rana, who drew widespread criticism for marrying his first wife's younger sister without divorcing his spouse, has publicly apologized and announced his decision to divorce her.

In a live broadcast from his Facebook account on Tuesday (October 27) night, Masud admitted his decision was a mistake and folded his hands to seek public forgiveness.

He stated that marrying the younger sister without divorcing his first wife was his biggest error, acknowledging that he failed to realize the social and legal fallout. Claiming ignorance, he remarked that had he understood the union was socially unacceptable and religiously prohibited, he would have never publicized it on social media.

Masud stated that he will henceforth navigate life with due regard for social norms and requested the public not to share their photos and videos online, while formally announcing his decision to divorce his sister-in-law.

According to local sources, Masud lived with his first wife, Mousumi, in a rented house at Vairagipara in Badalgachhi Upazila of Naogaon. Their Haldi ceremony was held there on Saturday, followed by his marriage to Mousumi's younger sister, Purnima, on Sunday (October 25).

Following the wedding, Masud had initially defended his actions, claiming the marriage took place with his first wife's consent to protect Purnima from potential harassment over previously recorded TikTok videos if she married elsewhere.

However, after he posted photos and videos of his two wives on social media, the post sparked intense backlash. The controversy led to mounting tension, culminating on Monday (October 26) night when angry locals in the Mataji Biramgram area of Mahadehabpur Upazila reportedly smeared soot and lime on his face and banished him from the locality in protest.
