Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has stepped up efforts to remove illegal encroachments from roads and footpaths in the capital, launching a drive in the Dhaka Trade Centre area of Gulistan on Wednesday morning.

The DSCC authorities said repeated notices and warnings had already been issued to those occupying public spaces illegally. No further notices would be served, and the authorities would seize goods and take legal action against violators.

The city corporation has instructed hawkers to operate within designated arrangements, including night markets and holiday markets. Strict action will be taken against those setting up stalls outside the designated areas.

Meanwhile, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) conducted a separate drive to remove illegal encroachments from footpaths in and around Mirpur-1.
