Jahangirnagar University (JU) will hold admission tests for first-year undergraduate (honours) programmes for the 2026-27 academic session from January 10 to 21, 2027, excluding Fridays and Saturdays.
Syed Mohammad Ali Reza, deputy registrar of the university’s Education Branch, confirmed the schedule on Wednesday.
Ali Reza said the university held its first meeting on admission-related matters on Wednesday, where several decisions were taken regarding the organisation of the tests.
He said the admission tests would be held on the university campus, as the plan to conduct examinations in divisional cities would not be implemented this year.
Regarding admission test fees, Ali Reza said the issue was discussed at the meeting, but no final decision had been made on whether to revise the fees. The university is also yet to complete its review of the admission test results, and a final decision on these matters may be taken at the next meeting.
He added that the admission test unit structure would remain unchanged from last year. However, the Law Department will take part in the admission process under the Faculty of Social Sciences this year.
Earlier, on July 8, the university administration formed four subcommittees to assess the feasibility of holding admission tests at divisional centres. However, the initiative will not be implemented this academic year due to complications involving the availability of examination centres and schedules at other universities, additional costs and other logistical challenges.
The university administration had previously announced an in-principle decision to hold admission tests for each unit in a single shift from the 2027-28 academic session. However, JU Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Shamsul Alam said the decision could not be implemented in the current academic session.
