Actress Sai Pallavi has sparked debate on social media after saying “Ravana is not all bad” during the Los Angeles premiere of 'Ramayana', as her comments on the mythological character drew both criticism and support.
During a red-carpet interaction on October 27, Sai said the film could introduce audiences to Indian culture and its epics. She encouraged people to reflect on the good and bad within themselves and work to correct their shortcomings.
“It's important that we spot the Ravana in us, and we make changes over time,” she said, explaining her remarks in the context of self-reflection and personal growth.
A video of the interaction went viral, with some social media users questioning her choice of words while others defended the broader context of her statement.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, 'Ramayana' stars Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on November 5, 2026.
