MP Aziz calls viral Facebook video a ‘conspiracy’

Natore-4 MP Abdul Aziz has described a viral video circulating on social media as a conspiracy to tarnish his political and social image, denying its authenticity and alleging that it was intended to discredit him.

The video reportedly spread across Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram on Wednesday (October 28), but its authenticity and the identity of the person shown could not be independently verified. Aziz said he would consult his lawyers before deciding on legal action.

Natore district BNP member secretary Asaduzzaman Asad said the party had called an emergency meeting for Friday to discuss the issue and would consider organisational action if the allegations were substantiated.

The controversy comes after Chhatra Dal leader Shakil Ahmed died on October 26 following an attack on October 15. Aziz’s elder son, Nuruzzaman Mintu, was arrested in connection with the case, according to the supplied report.
