Actors' Equity Bangladesh (Ahinayshilpi Sangha) has announced that it will assume complete financial and operational responsibility for the medical treatment of veteran television, stage, and film actor Somu Chowdhury, who has been suffering from prolonged illness while his family struggled to afford necessary care.

Following formal consent from his family, the artists' organization has already initiated the medical procedures and logistics required for his treatment.

Concerns among colleagues, peers, and well-wishers escalated recently after several videos depicting the actor's deteriorating physical state surfaced on social media platforms, prompting the professional association to step in upon learning about the family's financial distress.

Rashed Mamun Apu, General Secretary of Actors' Equity Bangladesh, confirmed that the organization is bearing all medical expenses, adding that obtaining the family's formal permission enabled them to launch the comprehensive healthcare drive smoothly.

This initiative marks the second time Actors' Equity Bangladesh has intervened regarding the veteran actor's health and well-being.

Approximately three years ago, members of the organization rushed to his assistance after he was discovered in a disoriented state in Gafargaon, arranging for his safe relocation; however, previous efforts to provide structured medical care could not proceed at that time due to the lack of consent from his family.
