Youth arrested with 3 maunds of cannabis

In an anti-narcotics operation in Bijoynagar, Brahmanbaria, 28-year-old Ripon Miah has been arrested with 3 maunds (122 kg) of cannabis.

The cannabis was recovered by the police during a raid on his residence in Bamutia village, under Paharpur Union, at approximately 5:00 AM on Thursday (October 29).

According to police sources, a team led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Nazmul Hasan of Bijoynagar Police Station conducted a search of Ripon Miah’s home in Bamutia village, acting on a tip-off. During the search, 122 kg of cannabis was discovered, and Ripon Miah was arrested at the scene. The seized cannabis was documented in the presence of witnesses.

A case has been filed against the arrested individual, Ripon Miah, under the relevant sections of the Narcotics Control Act, 2018.

Mohammad Ahsan Ullah, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bijoynagar Police Station, stated that the police’s campaign against drugs is ongoing. These anti-narcotics operations are being conducted regularly, based on confidential information and intelligence surveillance, and that such efforts to eradicate the drug menace will continue in the future.

The police later added that they are investigating the source of the seized cannabis and whether any other individuals are involved in the incident. Legal action has been initiated in connection with the case.
