Bangladesh came under pressure despite taking a 106-run lead over the West Indies as they lost six wickets for 79 runs in their second innings on the third day of the first Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Friday (October 30).

After securing a 27-run first-innings lead by scoring 272 and bowling out the visitors for 245, Bangladesh struggled with the bat in their second innings, losing wickets at regular intervals and reaching 79 for six in 29 overs before bad light forced an early end to the day's play.

Roston Chase led the West Indies bowling attack with three wickets, while Jomel Warrican claimed two and Shamar Joseph took one.

Bangladesh suffered an early collapse, losing Tanzid Hasan Tamim for a duck, Shadman Islam for 13, captain Najmul Hossain Shanto for 10 and Towhid Hridoy for a duck. Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz also departed as the hosts slipped to 53 for six.

Zak er Ali and Naeem Hasan remained unbeaten on 18 runs each at stumps, preventing further damage before play was called off due to bad light.

Earlier, Shadman Islam anchored Bangladesh's first innings with 105 runs, while Towhid Hridoy contributed 42, Mominul Haque scored 28 and Litton Das remained unbeaten on 34.

West Indies were bowled out for 245 in reply. Naeem Hasan claimed four wickets for 33 runs, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam took two wickets each.

Bangladesh will resume the fourth day with four wickets in hand, aiming to extend their 106-run lead and set West Indies a challenging target.
