NALITABARI, SHERPUR, Oct 30: Engineer Mohammad Fahim Chowdhury, the BNP-nominated member of parliament for Sherpur-2 (Nakla-Nalitabari) constituency, has inaugurated a PC girder bridge built at a cost of about Tk 3 crore in Nalitabari of Sherpur.
The bridge, built in the West Sannasivita area of Nalitabari Upazila in the district under the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) Mymensingh region's Rural Development Infrastructure Project, was inaugurated at noon on Thursday.
At the time, Nalitabari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Abdul Malek, LGED Executive Engineer Md Mahmudul Ashraf, Upazila Engineer Md Sharaf Uddin, along with officials of various departments and political leaders, were present. Later, MP Fahim Chowdhury inspected various development projects under the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief. Meanwhile, with the construction of this bridge in the West Sannasivita area, the travel suffering of people of South Sannasivita and several other areas will decrease.
In addition, if flood water from hill runoff appears in the Chellakhali river of Poragaon Union of the upazila, the flood water overflowing the river or breaching the embankment will easily and quickly pass under this bridge. As a result, the area will be largely spared from the grip of flooding.
